Summer Campaign 2024
Love Food Share Food
Love Food Share Food has reached a significant milestone in our journey to combat food insecurity in Brighton and Hove. Since our launch in summer 2023, we have raised over £11,880.44 in collaboration with our partners, FareShare Sussex and Surrey and Brighton Foodbank.
As our initial campaign phase comes to an end, we are immensely grateful for the incredible impact FareShare Sussex and Surrey has made during their time with us, and we look forward to continuing our mission alongside new partners. We will be relaunching a seasonal version of the Love Food Share Food campaigns later this year, spreading our support across a range of Sussex beneficiaries, food banks and organisations working to eradicate food poverty.
Throughout July and August of 2024, Love Food Share Food will be fundraising for Brighton Food Bank and CHOMP Brighton - two organisations dedicated supporting families and individuals struggling with food insecurity.
Table Card Initiative
Our flagship fundraising initiative offers restaurant customers the opportunity to add a £1 donation to their bill in support of the emergency food network. It’s completely free for restaurants to participate, and the small contribution can help make a big difference in the lives of those who are struggling to put food on the table.
A discreet Table Card is placed on each table or in the bill folder explaining the voluntary £1 donation to the customer. Donations are recorded through a Love Food Share Food button that is programmed into the participating restaurants till.
Participating restaurants will be promoted across our website and social media platforms as official fundraising partners of Love Food Share Food. This initiative has already been so successful, and we are excited to add more local restaurants to our growing list of partners.
Current Beneficiaries
CHOMP Brighton
Chomp is a Brighton based charity that supports low-income families to access food provision, enriching activities, and local community. Established in 2013, Chomp began by offering holiday lunch clubs, providing a free hot nutritious meal and space for children to play.
Today, Chomp continues to run its free holiday lunch clubs, and has now grown to offer a variety of wellbeing opportunities that support parents and children. They are passionate about supporting families who find themselves in challenging circumstances by building a community through their school holiday lunch programme and follow-on initiatives, empowering family members with the life skills and confidence to make aspirational decisions for their lives.
Brighton Food Bank
Brighton Food Bank is an independent food bank, established in Brighton and Hove in 2000. Their clients are referred to them from over 70 organisations across Brighton and Hove and often arrive at Brighton Food Bank in crisis, with not enough money to buy food and other essentials to feed themselves and, in some cases, their families. In 2021, they gave out over 5,000 boxes of food, helping 1,223 people in need.
As the staff at Brighton Food Bank get to know their clients, they are able to find solutions to their difficulties and signpost them to other agencies that can help them move beyond their need for a food bank.

FareShare Sussex & Surrey - £2,970 Raised
As we continue to grow, we would like to thank FareShare Sussex and Surrey for their contribution to the first phase of our campaign, helping us to demonstrate the power of collaboration within the restaurant and hospitality industry to support individuals and families facing food poverty and insecurity.
About FareShare Sussex & Surrey
rescue surplus food from businesses, supermarkets and farms. This food is nutritious, in date, and safe and includes a high proportion of fresh vegetables, fruit, meat and fish. If we did not rescue this food, it would be at risk of going to waste. Instead, we deliver it to charities, schools, food banks, community pantries and fridges and other organisations serving vulnerable people.
We delivered food for 2.4 million meals supporting 17,370 people a week at risk of food poverty. Food poverty is a huge and growing problem, and 13.4 million people including 4 million children in the UK live in households that struggle to afford to buy enough fruit, vegetables, fish and other healthy foods.
